God Shammgod (born April 29 1976 in New York City, New York) is an American professional basketball player, currently playing in China for Shanxi Yujun.[1] Prior to that, he played in Saudi Arabia for Al Ittihad Jeddah.[2] He lasted just one season in the National Basketball Association with the Washington Wizards during 1997-98 after being drafted by them in the 2nd round (17th pick) of the 1997 NBA Draft.

God had a couple good years at Providence before leaving early for the NBA, where he played one year with the Wizards. He then bounced around the professional leagues all over the globe, and now plays for the Portland Chinooks of the International Basketball League. I would say the most interesting thing about God's post NBA career is the fact that he played in Saudi Arabia. I just don’t picture a knucklehead from New York City fitting in very well there.
