Murray Abraham (b. October 24, 1939) is an Academy Award-winning American actor born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Syrian immigrant Fahrid Abraham and Italian-American housewife, Josephine. He was raised in El Paso, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Austin. He later studied acting in New York City under Uta Hagen. Abraham may be remembered by some for his role in Amadeus as the composer, Antonio Salieri which won him the 1994 Best Actor Oscar, and others for his appearance in Star Trek: Insurrection as Ad'har Ru'afo. Abraham made his stage debut in Los Angeles in Ray Bradbury's The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit. He made his film debut in the 1971 film They Might Be Giants and his first television appearance in a 1973 television production of the Shakespeare play, Much Ado About Nothing.
